Stelzel, Martin (20 Sep 1899 – 11 Feb 1976)
Martin Stelzel, 76, Dorchester, died of a heart attack at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Funeral services were held at St. Louis Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Saturday,
with the Rev. James Schaefer officiated. Burial was made in Dorchester Memorial
(South) Cemetery.
The six sons-in-law of the deceased served as pallbearers. Kraut-Maurina Funeral
Home was in charge.
Mrs. Stelzel was born September 20, 1899 in the Town of Holton. He received his
education in the Draper School there. On June 19, 1927 he was married to Minnie
Wetzling at Dorchester. They farmed in the Town of Holton until 1973, when they
built a new home and moved into the village.
Mrs. Stelzel was a member of St. Louis Church. He had served on the Draper
School Board and was presently a member of the Dorchester Senior Citizens.
He is survived by his widow; one son, Lawrence, Wausau; six daughters, Mrs. Le
Roy (Estelle) Becker, St. Louis Park, Minnesota, Mrs. Earl (Patricia)
Daufenbach, Elgin, Illinois, Mrs. Dennis (Arlene) Tischendorf, Dorchester, Mrs.
Robert (Mary) Goessl, Medford, and Mrs. Dennis (Beverly) Kramer, Abbotsford; on
brother, Louis, Dorchester; two sisters, Mrs. Frank (Harriet) Wanke and Otelia
Stelzel, both of Stevens Point; and 24 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, one daughter, three brothers and one
sister.
