He was loved and cherished by many people including: his adoptive father Wayne (Verna Birkett); his parents, Verna Birkett of Greenwood, WI and Wayne Birkett; his daughters, Brittan Buettner (Joe) of Cottage Grove, WI and Elyse Birkett of Madison, WI; his grandchildren, Roman, Noelle and Naomi Buettner; his sister Darla Abel (Scott) of Greenwood, WI; and his wife Susan Palange.

Visitation was held on Saturday, January 14th 2023 from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at the Our Savior's Lutheran Church (110 W Begley St, Greenwood, WI 54437). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 14th 2023 at 1:30 PM at the same location.
