Bundick, Bonnie Mae (24 May 1923 – 7 Jun 2022)
Lakewood, Washington - Bonnie Mae Bundick was born May 24, 1923 in Greenwood, WI
to Leo and Mable Bredesen, and passed away June 7, 2022 in Tacoma, WA. She grew
up the middle girl of 5, working hard on the family farm as the designated "son"
of the bunch, according to good-natured stories within the family. After high
school, she attended a secretarial school and met her future husband, Edward
Bundick, who was studying electronics at an affiliated school. After America
entered WW2, she learned machining skills at the Allis Chalmers plant in
Milwaukee and made aircraft superchargers for the war effort. After the war,
Bonnie and Edward were married and enjoyed 64 years of marriage before his
passing in 2010. They were blessed with a daughter (Nancy) and son (Leo) whom
they raised with a Christian foundation in Alaska and Washington.
Bonnie loved God, family, America, pets and Army healthcare! Yes, for the
most-recent 75 years of her life, various Army hospitals saved or extended her
life many times. She was a graceful and talented artist, singer, horsewoman,
gardener, Sunday school teacher and proof reader. She was best friends with her
daughter but let her son get away with far too much mischief. Two or more pets
were always in (and ruling over) the household. Her husband, a combat veteran of
WW2 and Korea, called her "the best thing God ever did to him" (interesting
phraseology) and together they worked, danced, travelled, learned, taught,
fought, struggled and loved.
Bonnie is survived by her son Leo, grandchildren Katie, Edward, Joseph and Emily
(Ted) Capp, baby sister June (Bernard) Ferguson, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edward, daughter Nancy, and sisters,
Eileen Dunn, Marian Dunn and Verna Harms.
Viewing will occur at 9:30am, Monday June 20, followed by interment at 10:15am,
both at New Tacoma Cemeteries and Funeral Home in University Place. If you can
come to the viewing, please bring a bloom from your favorite flower to place in
Bonnie's casket next to her. Nothing would please her more.
