Frey, Gloria Louise (25 October 1930 – 19 January 2023)

Gloria Louise Frey, age 92, of Marshfield passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2023.

Gloria was born October 25, 1930, in the Colby/Abbottsford area, to Albert and Martha (Clendennin) Pokallus. Gloria married the love of her life, Norman Frey on May 15, 1948, at Wesley United Methodist Church, Marshfield. To this union 6 children were born, Kenneth, Alita, Darla, Gary, Daniel, and Paul.

Gloria was a long time member of The Christian Science Mother Church of Boston. She was a member of the Christian Science Church of Marshfield and Woodruff. She was a reader for church and took care of the reading room.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her husband Norman and her children and grandchildren. They enjoyed hosting many family reunions and picnics at their rural Marshfield home. Having family and friends to their lake home was always a good time; riding on the houseboat, pontoon, making campfires, fishing and playing Yahtzee and Dominoes. Gloria often took family and friends out for lunch. She was gifted at making dolls and doll clothing for others and had a large doll collection. She also enjoyed knitting booties for grandchildren and scarves and slippers for family members.

Gloria is survived by her children, Kenneth (Ariel Walker) Frey of Bradley, Darla (Tom Beers) Frey of Marshfield, Gary (Mary Poehnelt) Frey of Holcombe, Daniel (Alice Franz) Frey of Arpin, and Paul (Kathy Marotz) Frey of Marshfield. Gloria is also survived by her grandchildren Troy Frey of Marshfield, Tonya (Dennis) Kortuem of Marshfield, Tina (Tim) Bushman of Stratford, Jamie Masanz of Ladysmith, Tammy (Mark) Nelles of Marshfield, Jesse (Jenni Fure) Frey of Marshfield, Tess Frey of Rothschild, Spencer Frey of Marshfield, Jeremy (Christina King) Frey of Orange, CA, Alec Frey of Mission Viejo, CA, step-grandchildren Michael (Leticia Mayer) Marotz of Port Washington, Katie (Tim Bergelin) Marotz of Marshfield, Megan (Matt Dwyer) Marotz of Lafayette, CO, and one sister Carol Johnson of Marshfield. She is further survived by 16 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.

Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, Martha and Albert Pokallus, husband, Norman Frey, a daughter Alita Carlene, brothers: Ralph, Lawrence, Carl, & Dale Pokallus, a half-brother James Sweeney and a half sister Lola Sterzinger.

Funeral services for Gloria will be held at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home, 1010 East Veterans Parkway, Marshfield, on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with Nancy R. Gingras, CS, officiating. Burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield. Visitation for family and friends will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday, at the funeral home.
