Karl, Linda Jane (17 July 1982)
The Swiss United Church of Christ in New Glarus was the site of the Saturday
mid-afternoon, July 17, wedding of Linda Jane Karl and Al Aslakson. The Rev.
Weirwill officiated at the service. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs.
Clifford Karl, Neillsville, and Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Aslakson of New Glarus.
Deborah Krauss Smith offered music for the service.
Kelli Gutzmer, a friend of the bride from Gratiot, was maid of honor. Joining
her were Sandy Ann Naedler, a friend from Granton, and Barbara Hanson, a sister
of the groom from New Glarus.
Bestman was Jim Hanson, the groom’s brother-in-law of New Glarus. He was joined
by Wayne Karl, the bride’s brother of Neillsville, and Gary Vetterli, a cousin
of the groom from Monroe. Ushering were Gene Vetterli, the groom’s cousin of
Monroe, and Carlie Quinn, a friend of the bride from Gratiot.
The bride chose a Chantilly lace gown with high Victorian neckline, ruffled
caplet, natural waistline and bull bouffant skirt with tiers of ruffled lace. It
was adorned with Venician lace and had pearls on the bodice with satin ribbon
trim at the flounce. The train extended to chapel length. She carried a parasol.
Her attendants, each wearing matching hats, wore Quiana gowns of pink lace,
featuring long sleeves and high Victorian necklines. They carried bouquets of
pink rosebuds, white carnations and baby’s breath. The groom was attired in a
white tuxedo while his attendants wore silver-hued tuxedos.
Following the wedding, a reception was held at the Idle Hour Manson and the
couple left for a Canadian wedding trip. They will make their home in New
Glarus.
The new Mrs. Aslakson is a graduate of UW-Stout. Her husband is a graduate of
New Glarus High School and is the co-owner of New Glarus Lumber Company.
