Cochran, Curtis G. (15 July 1921 – 17 August 1982) With Flag

Funeral services were held in Neillsville on Saturday morning, August 11, for Curtis G. Cochran, a well-known southern Clark County real estate agent. Cochran, 61, passed away in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, on Tuesday afternoon.

The Neillsville Assembly of God was the site for the funeral service with the Rev. Edwin Gungor of Faith Christian Church of Marshfield officiating. Burial was made in the Town of Lynn Cemetery. The Gesche Funeral Home of Neillsville was in charge of arrangements.

The deceased was born on July 15, 1921, in Quimby, Iowa, to Floyd and Marie (Swearting) Cochran. He received his early education in Iowa and then moved as a young man to Wisconsin where he completed high school in Poplar. He then worked for a short time before entering the military during World War II.

Cochran was among the first paratroopers sent to England. He later was transferred to the Air Force and flew 30 missions over Germany. He received many decorations during those years.

On March 1, 1944, Cochran married Marjorie Smith in Hitchin, England, ceremonies. After the war, the couple returned to the United States and they moved to Oregon where he operated a tire recapping plant for several years. They then moved to Colorado where he farmed for a short time before moving to California where he was in the car business.

The Cochran’s then moved to Clark County where he operated the United Farm Agency, a real estate firm, for many years. For several years he also served as a district manager for Strout Realty. At the time of his death, he was a field representative for Lynn Dairy.

Surviving him, besides his wife and his Yuba City, California parents, are three daughters, Mrs. Michael (Judy) Murphy of Sutter, Calif., Mrs. Richard (Jerry) Roberts of Chico, Calif., and Mrs. Rodney (Debbie) Hemp of Clayton; a son, Floyd, Greenwood; two sisters, Mrs. June Rowe of Twain Harte. Calif., and Mrs. Floydetta Delbianco of Hayward, Calif.; and two brothers, Robert of Las Vegas and Harold of Yuba City. Joining them are six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lorraine.

He was a member of the Faith Christian Church of Marshfield.

Serving as pallbearers were William Schwantes, Dr. Bahri Gungor, Rick Beilke, Richard Thompson, Harold Schlinsog and Everett Kauffman. Music for the service was provided by Steve and Jan Ware.

Attending the funeral from out-of-town were Mrs. Michael Murphy, Sutter, Calif.; Mrs. Richard Roberts, Chico, Calif.; Mr./Mrs. Rodney Hemp, Clayton; Harold Cochran, Yuba City, Calif.; June Rowe, Twain Harte, Calif.; Mrs. Larry Meyer, Kari and Scott Totsky and Mrs. Ralph Totsky, all of Racine; Mrs. John Grycowski, Milwaukee; Mr./Mrs. Steve Ware, Rockford, Ill.; Mr./Mrs .Ken Peterson, Salem; Mr./Mrs. Andy Kavajecz, Edgar; and Mr./Mrs. Bernard Pietenpol, Mesa, Ariz.
