Bushnell, Mr. and Mrs. Merle (Golden – 18 August 1982)
Merle and Carol Bushnell celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on
Saturday, August 21, at the Owen United Church of Christ. Over 150 guests
attended during the 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. open house and later dinner.
On Sunday, August 22, a picnic dinner and supper were served at the Bushnell’s
home in Owen.
Merle, son of H. C. Bushnell, was born in 1908 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Carol was
born in Neillsville in 1911 to Harmie and Floy (Laurence) Huntley. They were
married on August 18, 1932.
The couple farmed near Atwood until 1942 when they moved to ½-mile south of Owen
in the Town of Longwood. They farmed and both worked at Master Package until
retiring.
The couple has four children: Duane of Owen, Mrs. Larry (Mavis) DuBrava of West
Bend, Brian of Neillsville and Mrs. Marlyn (Priscilla) Laabs of Marshfield. They
also have seven grandchildren.
Merle’s only sister from Iowa and Carol’s only sister attended the festivities.
