Granton-Livestock Exhibitors (Top Awards - 1982)
Clark County exhibitors walked away with top honors in the hog show at the
Northwest Junior Livestock Show held at Eau Claire last week. Cheryl Garbisch, a
member of the Granton FFA and the present Miss Clark County, was named the
recipient of the Eau Claire Leader award for being the top swine exhibitor over
the past four years. She received a check.
Dave Rollins and Doug Spaete, both members of the Granton FFA, took first and
second place trophies for rate of gain in the swine show.
In the carcass contest following the show, all top five places went to the
Granton exhibitors. Grand Champion went to Eric Eibergen with reserve grand
champion going to Darryl Hasz. Third place went to Eric Eibergen, fourth to
Ollie Coyle, and fifth to Dawn Eibergen. Of the top ten pigs at the show, five
were exhibited by the Eibergen children.
Kim Lindow, a member of the Chili 4-H, exhibited the reserve grand champion
barrow in the live show. Class champions were exhibited by Dawn and Eric
Eibergen of the Romadka 4-H at Granton; Darryl Hasz and Ollie Coyle of the
Granton FFA; and Wayne Fleischman of the Pleasant Ridge 4-H of Granton.
There were 62 hogs exhibited at the show and over half came from the Granton
community. The Granton group was under the supervision of Francis Steiner,
vocational agricultural instructor at Granton High School.
