Gustafson, Janalee I. (2 Nov 1940 – 21 Jan 2023)
Janalee Ione Gustafson, age 82, of Colby, passed away on January 21, 2023, at
the Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield, after complications of heart
surgery.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023, at the
First United Church of Christ in Colby. Reverend Teri Hanson will preside.
Family and friends are welcome from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service at

Janalee was born to Melvin C. & Madelyn D. (Witte) Duvall on November 2, 1940.
She attended Colby High School and after high school, she was united in marriage
to Franklin Gustafson on February 28, 1959. She worked as a waitress, and also
served in the lunch room at school for several years. The couple then purchased
a farm east of Colby. When they retired they built a home near Cherokee, where
they resided until the time of her death.
Janalee enjoyed gardening and her flowers. Her garden was always large enough to
feed the entire family. She also helped her daughter with her craft shows and
her grandson with his estate sales. If she could, she would also sneak in a
garage sale here and there. Janalee will be always remembered for her care
packages, and keeping everyone well fed. She enjoyed spending time with her
children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She will be deeply missed by her husband, Franklin; daughter, Denise (Kevin)
Boyer; her son, Dale (Julie) Gustafson; her grandchildren: Travis (Nicole)
Boyer, Kyle (LeAnna) Boyer, Brittany (Mitch) Mews, Mitchell Gustafson and Malcom
(Tabbitha) Gustafson; great-grandchildren: Brayden Boyer, Brezlyn Boyer,
Bryleigh Boyer, Ajay Mews, Shay Mews, Kye Mews, Madilyn Gustafson and Eleanor
Gustafson. She is further survived by a brother, Lyle (Beverly) Duvall and a
sister-in-law, Carol Duvall.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Madelyn Duvall and a
brother, Alan Duvall.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Janalee’s name may be given to the
First United Church of Christ in Colby.
