Neville, James J. (19 November 1948 – 14 January 2023) With Flag

James J Neville Sr., of Kenosha passed away on January 14, 2023, at Captain James A Lovell Federal Heath Care Center in North Chicago, IL.

James was born on November 19, 1948, in Neillsville, the son of William and Eleanor (Schoen) Neville Sr. He was educated in Neillsville School District. After graduation, James enlisted in the Navy for four years, before returning to Neillsville and getting married to Lornamae Dodmead. James had many occupations throughout his life including working in a factory, doing paving work, cleaned for a business, doing security work, and as a CNA in multiple places including the VA in Biloxi, MS. However, some of his grandchildren would say he was a “professional grandpa.”

James enjoyed going out for breakfast at the local diners of his residence, most recently Danny’s Café of Kenosha. He also enjoyed putting $5 bills in slot machines, playing cribbage with family, fishing, camping, watching the Green Bay Packers, and wrestling. He bragged to some about meeting John Cena in person once and talked about his muscles. James traveled around to several locations throughout his life before settling in Kenosha. He wasn’t one to own much but was always willing to help his family when they were in need. There was and is nothing more important to James then his family; always taking any opportunity available to him, to visit and travel to see them even in the last several months during his weakest times. You could say that James’ greatest legacy are his children and grandchildren. James was an active member of Journey Church, where he greeted guest and high-fived kids. He loved to laugh and joke around. His spirit did not match his physical abilities over the last year. We are proud to have been a part of his life and his “dreamer” personality.

Survivors include his significant other, Lornamae Dodmead of Elmwood; children, Patty Johnson of VA, Tina (Addam) Lee of Elmore, James (Olena) Neville of New Berlin, Dorchel (Isaac) Neville of Marshfield, Koral Neville of Kenosha, Lorie (Juan) Segura of MS; mother, Eleanor Neville of Woodville; brothers, William (Dianne) Neville Jr. of Neillsville, Rick (Charla) Neville of Chippewa Falls, Terry (Jan) Neville of Birchwood, Rodney (Shelly) Neville of MN, Bobby Neville of Birchwood, Dallas (Rebecca) Neville of Eau Claire; sister, Brenda (Vern Sr.) Garagiola of Glenwood; also included are his 19 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. James was preceded in death by his father, William; grandson, Drake Leonhard; niece, Laura Neville and great granddaughter, Beautiful Karmonei.

A celebration of life will be held at Journey Church located at 10700 75th St, Kenosha, WI on January 27th, 2023, at 3 p.m.
