Shortt, Janice Mae (14 July 1940 – 23 January 2023)

Janice Mae Shortt, 82, Marshfield, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023, peacefully at her home.

Janice was born on July 14, 1940, in Colby to Art and Erna (Stock) Wiersig. She attended Colby High School and Patricia Stevens Finishing School in Milwaukee. On May 30, 1963, she married Jack Shortt in Waukegan, Illinois. She worked at Tony Company in Chicago and then Jack and Janice started their own businesses, including Hawaiian Flowers in Stevens Point, Central Wisconsin Foliage in Marshfield, and Windy Hill Foliage in Florida.

Janice enjoyed crocheting, sewing, taking part in exercise groups, traveling, going to the casino, listening to Elvis, gardening, picking berries, making jam, bowling, making Halloween costumes, and spending time with her family. She was also a lifetime member of the TOPS Club.

She is survived by her husband, Jack, children, Carl (Melanie) Shortt of Florida, Brenda Phillips of Florida, and Eric (Lacey) Shortt of Marshfield, and grandchildren, Zachary Spuler, Chace Shortt, Aubrianna Phillips, Kylie Shortt, Jacqueline Phillips, Tanner Shortt, Wyatt Williams-Phillips, and Charlie Williams-Phillips. She is further survived by her sister, Connie Raatz of Stevens Point.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Dick Wiersig, and sister, Ruthie Schoelzel.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Marshfield. Rev. Chris Schwanz will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 27 and from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday, all at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
