Kaczor, Joseph M. (4 December 1915 – 15 September 1982) With Flag
Joseph M. Kaczor, 66, a longtime Town of Washburn resident, succumbed to a long
illness at his Rt. 1 Neillsville, home on Wednesday morning, September 15.
The deceased was born on December 4, 1915, in the Town of Washburn to John and
Louise (Mazar) Kaczor. After his education in Washburn schools, he worked in
Montana and Washington for several years. On April 7, 1941, he entered the
military, serving as a Sergeant with the U.S. Army, in the South Pacific. He was
discharged on August 17, 1945.
On September 22, 1945, he married Lorette Fluegel in Town of Sherwood
ceremonies. The couple began farming in the Town of Washburn, retiring in 1978
from the farm but remaining in the township. Kaczor was a member of St. John’s
congregation, the Neillsville American Legion Post and Disabled American
Veterans of Marshfield.
Surviving him, besides his wife, are two daughters, Bonnie Kaczor of West Allis
and Mrs. Paul (Alice) Wood of Falls Church, Va.; and two sons, Joseph of Paddock
Lake and Leon of Neillsville. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Raymond
(Sophie) Peterson of Naples, Flo, and Mrs. Leon (Helen) Schultz of Larson; four
brothers, Stanley and Thomas, both of Milwaukee, Antone of Wauwatosa and Frank
of Neillsville and one grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; a
sister, Josephine; and a brother, John.
Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon, September 18, from St. John’s
Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville with the Rev. Norman W. Lindloff
officiating. Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Pallbearers were
Robert Fluegel, Richard Wilhorn, Jr., Duane Bieneck, Jerry Cernik, Tony Schultz
and Wayne Kaczor. Paul and Beth Tess offered special music. The Gesche Funeral
Home was in charge of arrangements. Graveside military rites were also offered.
Attending the services, besides his immediate family, were friends and relatives
from the Wisconsin communities of Pittsville, Nekoosa, Schofield, Milwaukee,
Winneconne, Omro, Beaver Dam, Holmen, Hubertus, Two Rivers, Marshfield, Wis.
Rapids, Larson, Granton, Kenosha and Loyal. Also present were those from Zion,
Glendale Heights, Rosemont, Chicago, Round Lake Park and Schaumberg, Ill.; and
from St. Paul, Minn.
