Pflanzer, George (18 October 1893)

George John Pflanzer of Abbotsford is observing his 90th birthday today.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. John (Mary Orth) Pflanzer was born October 18, 1893 at Phillips.

He joined the U.S. Army in 1918, serving during World War I in Bordeaux, France. On February 15, 1921 he and Nora Hake were married at Colby.

After working at a cheese factory in Curtiss, he bought a cheese factory in Unity, operating it from 1925-32. He then farmed in Colby until 1944, moving to Catawba, where he worked at a cheese factory until retiring in 1952.

From 1959-72 he lived in Arcadia, California, purchasing a home in Abbotsford in 1972. He has a son, Theodore Pflanzer of Abbotsford; six grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Regina Sotebeer of Phillips and Mrs. Anna Wrick, Milwaukee. Two sisters, Kate and Susan, and a brother, Andrew, are deceased.

His hobbies include gardening, reading, fishing, card playing and playing the harmonica.
