Smith, Bill (17 Apr 1904 – Nov 1976)
Funeral services were held at the First Methodist Church at Manawa Wednesday for
Bill Smith, a former area resident.
Mr. Smith was born on April 17, 1904 to Mr. and Mrs. William Smith Sr. in the
Town of Hoard. He received his education in the local school.
May of 1927 he was married to the former Gertrude Keskimaki of rural Owen. She
survives.
They farmed the home farm in the Town of Hoard for several years, then operated
the Nightingale Tavern, also a tavern in Withee, and also owned and operated the
Trading Post in Owen.
He is survived by a son, Kenneth, Ogdensburg; two daughters, Mrs. (Jean) Byron
Brown, Modesto, California, and Mrs. (Virginia) Schultz, Shawano; 10
grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Tina Balthazar, Mrs. Della Netto and Mrs.
Evelyn Kolbeck, all of Milwaukee, and Mrs. Victor Beebe, Loveland, Colorado, and
three brothers, Frank, Owen, Raymond, Big Bend, and Eldon, Marshfield.
