Marine Private First Class William G. Schoenfuss, 20, son of Ted C. Schoenfuss, Abbotsford, has been meritoriously promoted to his present rank upon graduation from recruit training at the Marie Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina.

He received the early promotion for his superior performance during all phases of the 11-week training cycle, which emphasized physical conditioning, self-discipline and teamwork.

A 1975 graduate of Abbotsford High School, he joined the Marie Corps in March 1976
