Brian Boettcher, a senior at Colby High School, won the Voice of Democracy
script writing contest held December 6, 1976 at the high school. The Colby VFW
is the local sponsor and will present a $25 savings bond to Brian. In the
fifteen years that the VFW has been sole sponsor of this program, over 3 million
students have participated.
Participants write and then tape record a 3-5 minute broadcast script expressing
their views on “What America Means to Me.” A tape of Brian’s script will now be
sent to the district contest.
Other students participating in the contest were Jim Clifford, Kathy Busse,
Carla Tischendorf, Steve Weber and Ruth Viergutz. Judges were Harriet Schwartz
and John Panko. Faith Caskey supervised the program.
