First United Church of Christ, Colby, was the scene Saturday, December 18, 1976,
of the wedding of Darlene Hederer and Roger Shupe, Spencer.
The Rev. Kenneth Dix performed the 2 p.m. ceremony. Mrs. Kenneth Dix played the
wedding music and Karen Hanson was soloist.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hederer, Colby, and Mrs. Walter
Koloski, Kenosha.
A traditional gown of miramist with full chapel train styled with a molded
bodice was worn by the bride. The gown’s high rise waistline was circled with
scalloped Venice lace, and its v neckline was outlined with the same trim. The
shepherdess sleeves were appliqued over the shoulders with lace and cuffed with
lace. The full skirt was bordered with Venice lace extending around the train.
Her veil was secured to Venice lace trimmed cap. She carried a cascade of red
roses and white carnations with baby’s breath and silk lavender forget-me-nots.
Mrs. Darlene Folz, Spencer, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Steve
Blanchard, Spencer, and Mrs. Sharon Anderson, Unity, sisters of the bride.
The wore lilac polyknit gowns fashioned with shirred bodices, high collars and
set in waistbands with full flared skirts. Long sleeved jackets which tied at
the waistline were worn over the dress. The lapels and cuffs of the jackets were
trimmed with purple velvet ruffles. They wore purple velvet bows as headpieces.
Each carried a wicker basket of purple cardae puffs, lavender flowers and star
flowers.
Tina Hederer, sister of the bride, and Sherry Anderson Unity, niece of the
bride, were flower girls. They wore gowns similar to the attendants.
Attending the bridegroom as best man was Larry Shupe, Arpin. Ronnie Shupe,
Marshfield, brother of the bridegroom, and Albert Cartwright, Spencer, were
groomsmen.
Randy Hederer, Colby, brother of the bride, and Randy Shup, Kenosha, brother of
the bridegroom, were ushers.
A reception, dinner and dance were held at the Colby VFW.
The bride graduated in 1970 from Colby High School and the bridegroom in 1968
from Auburndale High School.
