Apfelbeck, Bernard (11 May 1894 – 11 Jan 1977)
Funeral service were held Friday, January 14, 1977 for Bernard Apfelbeck, age
82, at Colby.
The Rev. Francis Rushman officiated at the 11 a.m. services held at St. Mary’s
Catholic Church, Colby.
Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Mr. Apfelbeck died Tuesday, January 11 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.
He was born in the Town of Hull, May 11, 1894 and attended the Riverside School
there.
On November 27, 1923 he married the former Bernadine Hoffman at St. Mary’s.
After his marriage he worked in the woods and farmed in the Town of Hull until
he retired in 1966. He was a veteran of World War I, a member of St. Mary’s and
the VFW Post 865 in Abbotsford, and a member of the Riverside School Board for
32 years.
Besides his widow, he is survived by three sons, Joseph and Dale, brother of
Colby, and William, Wisconsin Rapids; one daughter, Mrs. Francis (Gertrude)
Pevan, Chippewa Falls; 15 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 2 brothers,
Leo and Albert, both of Colby.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, five brothers and three grandchildren.
