The Rev. Michael Mertens officiated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood
wedding rites for Donna Mae Lindner and Kevin Carl Opelt on Saturday afternoon,
October 2. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Donald Lindner, Rt. 1
Greenwood, and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Opelt, Rt. 1 Neillsville.
Special music for the service was provided by Dawn Opelt, a sister of the groom.
Serving as maid of honor was Kathleen Lindner, the bride’s sister of Greenwood.
She was joined by Nancy Ewoldt, a sister of the bride from Greenwood; Darla and
Donna Opelt, sisters of the groom from Neillsville; and Joan Yaeger, a friend of
the bride from Marshfield.
Glen Kuehnel, a friend of the groom from Neillsville, was best man. He was joined
by Keith and Rollie Opelt, brothers of the groom from Neillsville; and Terry and
Dan Lindner, brothers of the bride from Greenwood. Ushering was Gary Ewoldt, the
bride’s brother-in-law from Greenwood; Bob Landini, a friend from Greenwood; and
Steve and Gene Opelt, brothers of the groom, from Neillsville.
The bride chose an A-line dress. Featuring long, lace sleeves and a lace bodice;
she carried a bouquet of red roses, ivy and baby’s breath. Her attendants wore
bloused and bodiced sundresses with matching jackets all in rhubarb hues; they
carried bouquets of white button and spider mums along with burgundy tipped
mums. The groom and his attendants were attired in Black-trimmed gray tuxedos.
The reception for the couple was held at the Greenwood American Legion Hall.
Also held was a dinner at St. Mary’s Hall and a dance at the Loyal American
Legion Hall. The couple announced that they would take a Northern Wisconsin
wedding trip.
The new Mr. and Mrs. Opelt will make their home in Neillsville. She is a
graduate of District I Technical Institute-Eau Claire and is employed in
accounting and computer programming with Figi’s of Marshfield. Her husband, a
Neillsville High School graduate, is a truck driver for Opelt Brothers.
