Private funeral services were held Monday for Melvin Moen, age 78, Chippewa Falls, at the Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home in Abbotsford.

The Rev. Kenneth Dix officiated at the 11 a.m. rites. Burial followed in the Abbotsford Cemetery.

Mr. Moen was born November 9, 1898 in Augusta. He married the former Anna Ledeke in 1917. She died in 1964.

Mr. Moen lived in Augusta and then in St. Paul. He worked for Wisconsin Telephone Company and lived in Abbotsford. For the past 13 years he resided in Chippewa Falls.

He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Wanita) Knight, Mrs. Ruth Fitense and Lorraine Moen, all of Abbotsford; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Edwin, Augusta, and two sisters, Mrs. Charlotte Tunison, Wyocena, and Mrs. Eslie (Thelma) Hilts, Augusta.
