The Rev. Richard Miller officiated at the Saturday mid-afternoon wedding
ceremonies for Kay Lynn Emling of Augusta and Timothy William Schmidt of
Altoona. The service was held in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Cleghorn.
Parents of the bride are Dick and Joan Raebel, Rt. 1 Neillsville and of the
groom are Dick and Donna Schmidt, Eau Claire.
Jill Counsell, a cousin of the bride from Neillsville, served as maid of honor.
She was joined by friends of the bride Denise Suenkel of Minneapolis and Mabel
Doherty of River Falls.
Serving as best man was Steve Schmidt, the groom’s brother. He was joined by Jim
Schmidt, a cousin of the groom, and Darrel Dokkestul, a friend. All were from
Eau Claire. Ushering were Jay Emling, the bride’s brother of Franklin; Dirk
Raebel, another brother of the bride from Neillsville; and Dan Schmidt, the
broom’s brother of Eau Claire.
Serving as ring bearer was Luke Doherty, friend of the bride from River Falls;
flower girl was April Vlcek, a cousin of the groom from Eau Claire. The bride’s
personal attendant was Sue Kaczor. Music for the service was offered by Arlene
Housley, Jill Counsell and Everett Tillung.
The bride chose a long-sleeved gown with lace bodice and tiered lace skirt. She
carried a bouquet of pink roses and white and burgundy carnations. Her
attendants wore long-sleeved lace dresses in a dusty rose color; they carried
clutches of pink roses, burgundy-trimmed carnations and baby’s breath. The groom
and his attendants were attired in burgundy tuxedos.
The new Mr. and Mrs. Schmidt will make their home in Altoona. The bride is a
1977 graduate of Neillsville High School and in 1981 from UW-Eau Claire; she is
employed by Frito-Lay and Chick Feather-Century 21 Realty in Eau Claire. The
groom, a 1977 graduate of Eau Claire Memorial and in 1978 from District I
Technical Institute-Eau Clare, is a carpenter.
Prenuptial events included showers hosted by the groom’s aunts and another
hosted by Jill and Dorothy Counsell of Neillsville.
