COLBY - Special services, the remembrances of former pastors were among the
highlights of the centennial celebration Sunday of the Colby United Methodist
Church.
Former pastors present included the Revs. David Passet, 1858-61, now in
Milwaukee, Ralph Koelmag, 1961-63, now of Plover; James Hagen, 1963-70, now of
Montford, Bernie Scott, 1970-74, now of Hartford; Keith Schoerlecke, 1974-78,
now of Lodi, and Charles Strong, 1978-83, now of Madison. Rev. Kenneth Barnes
now serves the church.
The Clark County Chorallers provided music for the afternoon services. About 169
persons attended the morning and afternoon services.
Women of St. Mary's Catholic Church served the dinner.
The Centennial Committee consisted of Myrtle Meacham, Barnes, Elvira Forbisch,
Frank Goeltz, Wilma Sassaman, the Rev. Charles Strong and Pearl Vorland. Church
historians are Jan Calley, Forbisch, Meacham, Marcie Todd, Evelyn Winker and
Vorland.
