Elmhorst, Walter (27 June 1905 – 13 November 1982)

Walter Elmhorst, 77, of Rt. 1 Chili, passed away in Neillsville Memorial Hospital on Saturday morning, November 13.

The deceased was born on June 27, 1905, in Iowa to Henry and Martha (Desens) Elmhorst. He moved with his parents to Illinois, where he received his early education. At 15-years of age, he moved with his parents to the Granton area. On January 16, 1932, he married Ella Henning. The couple moved to Illinois and remained there for about 18 months, then returned to Clark County’s Town of Fremont.

Surviving besides his wife, are two brothers, Henry of Neillsville and Eldon of Denver, Colorado, and seven sisters, Amanda Witheft and Mrs. Harold (Dorothy) Capelle, both of Hershire, Illinois, Mrs. Harold (Vera) Lempke and Emma Smith, both of Marshfield, Mrs. Art (Evelyn) Lichte of Boulder, Colorado, Mrs. Loyal (Verna) Stover of Thornton, Colorado, and Mrs. Vernon (Laura Mae) Wegner of Clermont, Florida. He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday morning, November 17, from Christ Lutheran Church in Chili with the Rev. Kevin Wenks officiating. Burial was made in the Yolo Cemetery. The Gilbertson Funeral Home of Granton was in charge of arrangements.
