Tolley, Helen J. (20 July 1905 – 19 November 1982)
A resident of the Granton and Neillsville areas since 1970, Helen J. Tolley, 77,
passed away at her 210 East Fourth St., Neillsville home on November 19.
The deceased was born on July 20, 1905, in Hamilton, Ohio, to Ennis and Joyce
(Hawk) Thompson. She graduated from Ross High School in Hamilton and then worked
in woolen mills in that city. On August 28, 1929, she married Laddie R. Tolley
in Hamilton ceremonies. The couple then farmed in that area for many years.
In 1963, the couple moved to Spokane, Washington. In 1969, Mr. Tolley died; a
year later, Mrs. Tolley moved to Granton where she lived with her son until 1977
when she moved to Neillsville.
Surviving her is a daughter, Mrs. Clyde (Shirley) Williams, Spokane, Washington;
a son Wayne, Granton; a sister, Mrs. Ethel Heinz, Hamilton; two brothers, Lowell
Thompson of Hamilton and Howard Thompson, Brookville, Indiana; and two
grandchildren. She was preceded in death, besides her husband, by two sisters.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday morning, November 23, from the Gesche
Funeral Home in Neillsville. The Rev. Howard Ott of the United Methodist Church
officiated, with burial made in the Town of Lynn Cemetery
