Army Staff Sgt. Douglas L. Hoffman, son of John Hoffman, Route 1, Colby,
recently was presented the Meritorious Service Medal at Ft. Riley, Kansas.
The medal provides recognition for a degree of exceptionally meritorious
services or achievement falling between stands of the Legion of Merit and the
Army Commendation Medal.
Sgt. Hoffman earned the award during his last assignment with Battery B, 2nd
Battalion of the 78th Field Artillery in Germany.
The sergeant, a dining room supervisor with Headquarters Company, 4th Battalion
of the 1st Infantry Division’s 63rd Armor at Ft. Riley, Kansas, hold the Bronze
Star Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.
He entered the Army in August 1962.
Sgt. Hoffman is a 1966 graduate of Colby High School.
