Hancock, Clinton F. (12 June 1899 – 16 December 1982)
Clinton F. Hancock, 83, Merrillan, died Thursday, December 16, at his home.
He was born in Pray on June 12, 1899, to John and Eva (Austin) Hancock. He
married Lillian Illbeck in Winona, Minnesota, on December 26, 1929. He was
employed by the State Department of Natural Resources for 50 years prior to his
retirement. The couple lived in the Town of Knapp, Jackson County, and in Black
River Falls before moving to Merrillan.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Royal (Janice) Carter of
Grasston, Minn., and Mrs. Richard (Laurine) Bathke of Rice Lake; three sons,
Carroll of St. Louis, Francis “Bud” of Milwaukee and Lee of Merrillan; one
brother, Donald of Minneapolis; two sisters, Mrs. Lou (Dorothy) Havnik of
Belfield, N.D. and Mrs. John (Genevieve) Kennedy of Longview, Wash.; 13
grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held Monday afternoon in the Merrillan United Methodist Church
with the Rev. M. Lynn Scott officiating. Burial was in the Oakwood Cemetery in
Merrillan. The Jenson Funeral Home at Hixton was in charge of the arrangements.
