Fliss, Rev. Richard L.
The Rev. Richard L. Fliss of Owen has been pastor of Holy Rosary Catholic
Church, Owen, since January 15, 1976, when he came from St. Mary's Catholic
Church, Wausau, to be the new pastor. Father Fliss was born June 13, 1938 in
Stevens Point, where he attended St. Peter's Parochial School and P.J. Jacobs
High School before entering St. Francis Preparatory Seminary, Milwaukee; Holy
Cross Seminary, La Crosse; and St. Francis Major Seminary, Milwaukee. On May 28,
1966 he was ordained in St. Joseph the Workman Cathedral, La Crosse. His first
assignment was June 15, 1966 as assistant at Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish
in Rothschild; on December 15, 1969 as assistant to St. Vincent de Paul parish,
Wisconsin Rapids; and on July 15, 1971 as associate pastor to St. Mary's at
Wausau. Father Fliss is Chaplain of Marian Council, Knights of Columbus, Owen;
chaplain to the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, Mother Seton Council; and a
member of the La Crosse Diocesan Priest Senate.
