Kramas, Lucille Norene “Lucy” (7 September 1924 – 12 February 2023)
Lucille N. "Lucy" Markee-Kramas, age 98, of Greenwood, passed away at Marshfield
Medical Center in Marshfield, on Sunday, February 12, 2023.
Lucille Norene Englebretson was born on September 7, 1924, in the Town of
Beaver, rural Clark County, the daughter of Melvin E. and Bessie N. (Dutcher)
Englebretson. She was raised on the family farm, and graduated from Loyal High
School in 1943. Lucy was united in marriage to Clarence F. Markee on June 5,
1943, at his parents' home in Greenwood where they both lived all their lives.
They farmed there in the Town of Warner, and she worked at Stewart's Redville
Dairy for a few years. Lucy then went to work for Clark County Social Services
in 1968, where she was a County Homemaker. Her husband died on March 12, 1976.
She continued working for Clark County and later was united in marriage to Paul
A. Kramas, Sr. in 1983. Lucy retired in 1989. Her husband, Paul, was an
accomplished musician playing concertina and performed as the lead member of
numerous local polka bands. She loved to dance and traveled with him to his
music engagements helping as his drummer and singer. Lucy volunteered
transportation for Clark County for many years, also transporting the Amish and
Mennonite communities.
She was a member of the Loyal United Methodist Church, and the Central Wisconsin
Concertina Club. Lucy had many interests, but especially loved spending time
with her family and friends, square dancing, polka dancing, and playing drums.
She will be dearly missed by her three children: Lillian Hebert, Becky Ann
Markee, and David Koplin, all of Greenwood; several grandchildren, great
grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives
and many friends.
Lucy was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Clarence and Paul; and
one sister: Doris Stafford-Dittner.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Loyal
United Methodist Church in Loyal, WI. Rev. Kathy Jury will officiate, and burial
will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Withee, WI. Visitation will be held at the
church, on Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
