Nelson, Viola (25 July 1904 – 1 February 1983)

Viola (Seif) Nelson, 78, passed away on February 1 at a Milaca, Minnesota hospital after a long illness. Funeral services wee held on February 4 from a Milaca Lutheran Church with burial in that community.

The deceased was born on July 25, 1904, in the Town of Seif to John and Adella Seif. She attended rural schools and then moved into Neillsville to attend high and normal school. Later she graduated from the then Stevens Point Teachers College. She taught for17 years and served children in Shortville, Globe, Blackberry and Hewettville Schools.

In December of 1937, she married Lloyd Nelson of Milaca, who had come to Greenwood as a worker on Hwy. 73 between Greenwood and Neillsville. They made their first home in Minneapolis, later moving to Milaca in 1943. There they made their home except for four years, when they farmed outside the community.

Mrs. Nelson was a Milaca School board member and active in Trinity Lutheran and its circles.

Surviving her, beside her husband, are daughters, Lola Lea Vedders of Minnetonka, Minnesota, and Dona Schreur of Safford, Arizona; a brother Robert of Neillsville; and five grandchildren. She is also survived by nieces Judy Metzke of Greenwood and Janice Herron of Marshfield. She was preceded in death by a brother, Harley.
