Amacher, Hans (22 Aug 1900 – 17 Mar 1976)
Services were held Saturday, March 20, 1976 at Christ Lutheran Church, for Hans
Amacher, age 75, Abbotsford.
The Rev. Kenneth Loehrke officiated at the funeral services, with burial in the
Abbotsford Public Cemetery.
Kraut-Maurina Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.
Pall bearers were Ole Hanson, Walter Maldonis, Ervin Zahorka, John Busse, Albert
Busse and Walter Waldhart.
Mrs. Norman Kommer was the organist and the congregation sang.
Mr. Amacher died Wednesday, March 17, 1976 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield,
where he had been a patient since March 6.
He was born August 22, 1900 in the Town of Deer Creek, Taylor County, and
attended school there. He also attended college in Appleton and two years at
Northwestern College in Watertown.
In 1919 Mr. Amacher went to work with his brother Ed at the Stetsonville
Hardware Company, and farmed for a short time.
On March 4, 1921, Mr. Amacher and his brother Fred, and an uncle, E. B.
Dahlberg, who at that time owned and operated Stetsonville Hardware Company,
purchased the Abbotsford Hardware Company from L. H. Wyers. They operated the
store until 1935 as a partnership, when Mr. Amacher became sole owner. He
continued to operate the store until retiring in 1970, and selling the business
to his son-in-law, Ronald Graffunder.
Mr. Amacher was with the National Guard Unit at Abbotsford and served on the
Abbotsford Village Council, and also was a member of the Abbotsford School Board
from 1928 to 1958. He was also a member of the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce
and Christ Lutheran Church.
During the 1930’s he played with the Tri-City Band at Abbotsford.
He married the former Gertrude Scheeler on June 30, 1927 at Granton.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Harold, Abbotsford; one daughter, Mrs.
Ronald (Carol) Graffunder, Abbotsford, and five grandchildren.
