Sholtz, Fern B. (12 June 1917 – 22 February 1983)
Fern B. Scholtz, 65, of Waukesha died February 22 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital
after a heart attack.
Fern Sholtz, formerly Fern Bowen, was born June 12, 1917, in Longwood. Fern was
the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ed Bowen. The Bowens operated the
Shortville Store several years before Mr. and Mrs. Ragnar Mortenson purchased it
in 1932.
She was a member of the Frist United Methodist Church, the church’s Over 60
Club, the Golden Agers, the Asbury Fellowship and the Guys and Dolls Dance Club.
She is survived by her husband, Vernon; two daughters, Arlene Belmer of Waukesha
and Anita Richardson of Mukwonago; a brother, Howard Bowen, Wis. Rapids; a
sister, Lorraine Peterson, Westboro; and nine grandchildren. Preceding her in
death were her parents and a brother Dick.
Services were held Thursday, February 24, at the Rudolph Funeral Home and burial
was in the Prairie Home Cemetery, Waukesha.
Attending the funeral from this area were Mrs. Virginia Gassen, Neillsville, and
Thoe Huser, Arpin; both are cousins of Vernon Sholtz. Also attending were Mr.
and Mrs. Bob Galbreath, Mrs. Art (Ada) Opelt of Neillsville and Mrs. Gen Hohman,
Wis. Rapids.
