Hackel, Irma A. (25 October 1928 – 27 February 2023)

Irma A. Hackel, age 94, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2023, at the Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield.

Irma was born on October 25, 1928, in the Town of Frankfort, the daughter of William and Louise (Punke) Hoernke. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Raymond Hackel on April 6, 1946. Together they farmed in the town of Frankfort. He preceded her in death on May 22, 2016.

Irma enjoyed crafts, bead work, playing cards, making sequin calendars, fishing, gardening, canning, baking, bowling, gambling and watching the Packers and Brewers. Most importantly, she loved and cherished her family.

Irma is survived by her eight children: Judy (Daniel) Maroldy of CA, Mike (Cheri) Hackel of Abbotsford, Wendy King (Tom Rosinski) of Rockford, IL, Julie Thieme of Colby, Kathy (Roy) Welcher of Cameron, Ken Hackel of Abbotsford, Paula (Bruce) Erickson of Athens, and Paul (Tracy) Hackel of Brantwood; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law: Cecilia Venzke of Abbotsford and Theresa Hackel of Marshfield; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Raymond Hackel; her grandson, Scott; her great-granddaughter, Alli; her brother, Harold Hoernke; her two sisters: Alma Denzine and Hertha Werner and a son-in-law, Roger Thieme.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 5, 2023, at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford. Rev. Teri Hanson will officiate. Family and friends are welcome from 12:00 p.m. until time of service Sunday at the funeral home. A livestream will be available for those unable to attend on the Maurina Schilling Funeral Home Facebook page or after the service anytime on Facebook or the website.
