Neillsville FFA Chapter (Wins Twice - 1983)
Members of the Neillsville Chapter of the Future Farmers of America (FFA) took
first place in two contests last Thursday, March 10. Sixteen students travelled
to the North Central Tech. Institute at Wausau for a farm skills contest, and
four other students attended the Clark County Dairy Judging Contest at Christie.
At Wausau, Kien Schmitt earned a first place trophy and Craig Kurasz won a
fourth place plaque for their performances in the tools and safety division.
Other team members were Dennis Schmidt and Brad Lewis.
Bruce Brey won a first place individual award in tractors and engines. Other
team members were Chuck Statz, Ricky Jensen and Duane Northup. Brey received a
trophy for his performance.
Terry Byrne received a third place plaque as an individual in the farm
management contest. Other team members were Angie Suda, Jack Friemoth, and Scott
Shirley.
Jim Schmitt earned a third place individual plaque for his performance in the
farm machinery division. Other team members were David Grottke, Steve Friemoth
and Dan Elmhorst.
At Christie Jeff Friemoth scored a 188 out of a possible 200 points to take
first place honors in the dairy judging contest. Friemoth received a trophy for
his effort. Other team members were Kerry Durham, Jim Kingsbury and Dean Wetzel.
Neillsville defeated eight other schools for first place.
