Hohenstein, Mr. and Mrs. Darrel (Grandchildren Baptized - 1986)
Five grandchildren of Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Hohenstein were baptized by Rev. C.
Arlene Denzer, during April 20 services at United Methodist Church, Granton.
Many relatives joined the children and their families for this special
celebration and dinner.
The five cousins who were baptized on April 20 include Amy Marie Karl, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Karl; Derrick Neil and Ross Robert Hohenstein, sons of
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hohenstein; Stacy LeNae Hohenstein, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Gene Hohenstein; and Curtiss Neil, son of Mr. and Mrs. Terry Hohenstein.

Howard, Beverly (Engagement - 1986)
William and Georgiann Howard of Granton proudly announce the engagement of their
daughter, Beverly, to Terry Butler of Indianola, Iowa. Bev is a nursing student
at Iowa Methodist School of Nursing and will graduate May 30, 1986. She has
accepted employment at Iowa Methodist Hospital. Terry is a lineman at Des Moines

Will H. Schlinsog was among the 96 graduates of Logan College of Chiropractic,
St. Louis, Missouri, during April 19, commencement ceremonies. Schlinsog is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Art Schlinsog, Rt. 2 Granton, and grandson of Frances
Prochazka, Neillsville. Prior to attending Logan College, he graduated from
Granton High School in 1980 and was a student at UW-La Crosse. Dr. Schlinsog
practices and resides in Fresno, California.

Springstead, Linda (Engagement - 1986)
Rick Shilt, formerly of Appleton and Linda Springstead, of Neillsville announce
their upcoming marriage on June 21, at 1;30 p.m. in Neillsville. Linda is the
daughter of Harold Springstead and Pat Springstead, both of Neillsville. She
attended Sunburst School. Rick is currently working toward a GED.

Keuer, Mr. and Mrs. Ray (Golden – 1986)
Ray and Viola Keuer, Granton, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary
Saturday, May 3, with an open house, supper and dance at the Granton Sportsman’s
Club. The couple were married May 2, 1936, at Zion Lutheran Parsonage. Rev. A.
Laesch officiated. Attending the anniversary celebration was Mrs. Edna (Keuer)
Zalabsky of Pittsville.
Ray Keuer was born February 11, 1916, in the Town of Lynn; he was educated at
Mayflower School and Granton High School. The former Viola Pischer was born in
the Town of Grant on August 17, 1916. She attended Wild Rose School and Zion
Lutheran School. Until 1961, the couple farmed in the Town of Lynn, then moved
to Marshfield. In 1968, they moved to Granton where Keuer was self-employed as a
carpenter. He retired in 1981. Mr. and Mrs. Keuer are members of Zion
Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Granton Senior Citizens Club.
They have a daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Annabelle) Garbisch, and three grandchildren.
A son, Edward, died in March 1964 and a grandson died in 1971.

Pastor Timothy Lindloff of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Vesta, MN
officiated, May 3, during a 4 o’clock ceremony uniting Marjorie Elaine Groen and
Gary Walter Beyer in marriage. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Groen, Bellingham, WA., are
parents of the bride. Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Walter Beyer,
Neillsville.
The bride was attired in a street length dress of white and silver, complimented
by a corsage of blue carnations. Her attendant, Mrs. Marlyn Luckow, wore a dress
of gray, also accented with a blue carnation corsage. Bestman was Rick
Schlennes. Both attendants are from Montevideo, MN.
The newlyweds are both employed by Friendship Homes, Montevideo, MN. A honeymoon
will be taken at a later date.

Karen L. Strangfeld and Charles E. Statz became husband and wife during an
afternoon ceremony, April 5, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church,
Neillsville. Rev. Richard Weber officiated at the wedding service. Sharon Nemitz
and Dawn Thoma provided musical accompaniment. Parents of the couple are Donald
and Patricia Strangfeld and Edmund and Helen Statz, all of rural Neillsville.
Escorted on the arm of her father, the bride wore a taffeta Victorian-styled
gown with a yoke of illusion lace, high collar, and ballroom sleeves accented
with taffeta bows. The Chantilly lace-edged ruffled skirt swept to a chapel
train and a halo headpiece, made by the bride’s mother, of pink and white
sweetheart rosebuds with baby’s breath held an illusion veil. The bride carried
a cascade bouquet of silk rosebuds with accenting apple blossoms, baby’s breath
and ribbon.
Sandy Neville-Wegner was matron of honor, while bridesmaids were Debbie Wetzel,
Carey Strangfeld, Karen Statz, Kay Strangfeld, and Junior bridesmaid Bonnie
Helenbrand. All were attired in pink floral print gowns of acetate satin with
flounced neckli9nes and puffed sleeves over a draped and bowed ruffled
overskirt. Their white and pink silk halos were accented with pink ribbons. They
carried arm bouquets of pink and white rosebuds with pink ribbon and baby’s
breath.
Attending the groom as bestman was William Statz. Groomsmen were Kenneth Wetzel,
Jim Erickson, Jim Sandstrom and Patrick Schmidt. The groom wore a white
swallowtail tuxedo with white pleated shirt, pink bow tie and cummerbund. His
attendants wore similar grey tuxedos. Ushers were Charles Hagedorn and Michael
Statz.
A wedding reception and dance was held at the Neillsville American Legion Hall.
A bridal shower was hosted by the bridal attendants, on March 16, at the Donald
Strangfeld home.
The bride and groom are both 1983 graduates of Neillsville High School. She is
employed at the Neillsville A&W Restaurant, and he is a dairy farmer. Following
a wedding trip to the Badlands and Black Hills of South Dakota, the couple will
be at home at Rt.3 Neillsville.
