Kowalski, Frank M. (15 May 1934 - 8 September 2024)
Frank M. Kowalski, age 90, of Withee, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024,
at the Marshfield Medical Center.
Frank was born on May 15, 1934, the son of Michael and Tillie Kowalski in
Lublin. He was united in marriage to Darlene Brodbeck on October 27, 1956, in
Chicago, IL. Frank worked at various cheese factories in Owen, Curtiss and
Abbotsford.
Frank enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing and gardening. He was a member of Holy
Rosary Catholic Church. Frank will be truly missed by all who knew him.
Frank is survived by his wife of 67 years, Darlene; his son, Michael (Brenda) of
Independence and step-grandchildren. He is further survived by two
sisters-in-law: Barbara (Scott) Ramberg and Margaret Strohkirch, both of Withee.
He is preceded in death by his parents and five siblings: John, Mary, Haddie,
Felix and Joseph.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 21,
2024, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen. Father Stanislaus Michael Antony
will officiate. Inurnment to follow at Riverside Cemetery in Withee. Family and
friends are welcome from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church.

Krause, Leland Bernard (4 July 1937 – 6 September 2024) With Flag
Leland Krause, age 87, of Granton, died Friday, September 6, 2024, at the
Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield.
Leland Bernard Krause was born on July 4, 1937, in the town of Lynn, Clark
County, the son of Alvin and Laurean (Wilkens) Krause. He attended Granton Grade
School for four years, four years at Cannonville Corners Grade School, and
graduated from Granton High School in 1955.
Leland then worked for 1 year at Rollohome in Marshfield before moving to
Milwaukee, where he worked for General Electric X-Ray. In 1958, he enlisted into
the United States Coast Guard, and did 30 weeks of electronics school in Groton,
CT. He was assigned to Port Angeles, WA for nine months, Sand Island in
Honolulu, HI for two years and then to Milwaukee for the final three months.
After his honorable discharge in 1962, he worked for Allis Chalmers for three
months and then at Johnson Controls in Albuquerque, NM for one year. Leland then
moved to Rio Vista, CA and worked at Al's TV Shop for a short time, before
moving to Rockford, IL and working for RCA Factory Service for three years and
one year in Madison. From there Leland moved to Marshfield, and worked for the
Sears-Roebuck Company as a radio/tv repairman for ten years, seven of which he
was the service manager. He spent a year working for Land-O-Lakes in Spencer,
twelve years in management at H. C. Prange's in Marshfield and lastly at Target
in their maintenance department for 5 1/2 years before retiring at the age of
60.
Leland loved to go to the Silver Dome Ballroom dancing and that is where he met
Annette Durst. They were married on August 13, 1966, at the Pine Valley Lutheran
Church in Neillsville. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on computers.
He is survived by a brother, Elmer (Julie) Krause of Stevens Point, and two
nephews, DuWayne (Lisa) Krause of Junction City, and Eugene (Karyn) Krause of
Inola, OK. Preceding him in death are his wife and his parents.
A graveside service for Leland will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday,
September 14, 2024, at the Windfall Cemetery in Granton, WI. He will be interred
next to his wife, Annette, who died in 2006.

Boxrucker, Anna M. (21 May 1928 – 7 September 2024)
Anna M Boxrucker 96, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, September
7, 2024, at Nekoosa Court Assisted Living.
Anna was born on May 21, 1928, to Arnold and Alma (Olson) Nelson near Medford.
She went to elementary school at the one-room Little White schoolhouse in Little
Black. She graduated from Medford High school.
When she was a teenager, her mother died. Her sister Jane and Anna took care of
their 3 brothers and a disabled sister. After Anna married the love of her life,
Pete, on July 30, 1946, they took in her sister Gracie. Gracie went to school in
Eau Claire during the week and came home on the weekends. She was unable to
walk, so Pete taught her to walk on her hands and to open doors. Anna and Pete
loved life. They had many parties at their home and enjoyed dressing up for
Halloween. Christmas was a favorite holiday as Pete had been wounded on
Christmas Day and was MIA during WWII. They celebrated his life and the birth of
Jesus. The coffee pot was always on at their house. Anyone who came to visit got
something to eat, cookies-cheese-sausage-crackers, no matter what time of the
day or night. For many years vacations were spent at the Lake of the Pines. Anna
and Pete with their family in 1 cabin and best friends and neighbors, Melvin and
Dorothy Jarchow, and their family in the cabin next door. Anna worked many years
at the Master Package Corporation in Owen. After Pete had a stroke, Anna retired
early to take care of him at home. She said she was able to fulfill her dream of
being a nurse. Anna lived in her own home until the last 2 years of her life,
then she moved to assisted living. Granddaughter Nikki worked there and the 2 of
them shared many special moments. Staff there called Anna “Grandma” too.
Anna and Pete had 2 children, Jerry (Carol) and Gracie. 4 grandchildren, Kim
(Victor) Werlein, Nikki (Jeremiah) Montag, Kevin, Ellen (Jeff) Petersen. nine
great grandchildren Tara (Brian) Busse, Ethan (Cosvy), Colbin (Marisa), Beth,
Nolan, Marshall, Avery, Ayla, and Harper; and One great-great grandchild
Viviana. All of them were lovingly spoiled.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 sisters, Jane
Meschefske and Grace Nelson and 2 brothers Roger (Sonny) and Sam.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at St Katherine’s church in Owen,
on October 19, 2024. Her funeral will be at 12 p.m. at the church. Honorary
pallbearers will be grandchildren Kim, Nikki, Kevin, Ellen; great-grandchildren
Tara, Ethan, Colbin, Beth, Nolan, Avery, Ayla, Harper; great-great grandchild
Viviana.

Hansen, Maynard Jerome (28 September 1950 – 10 September 2024)
Maynard Jerome Hansen of Abbotsford, passed away from Interstitial Lung Disease
on September 10, 2024, with his wife at his side at Marshfield Medical Center at
the age of 73.
He was born on September 28, 1950, to Jerome and Grace (Schaefer) Hansen in
Hartford. Maynard was a devout Catholic. He graduated from Hartford Union High
School and worked on the family dairy farm. He married Rosanne Theisen on July
2, 1983, at St. Boniface Church in Germantown. They lived in Hubertus for
fifteen years and had four children together. They bought their dairy farm in
Dorchester, and moved their family in July 1998. Upon Maynard’s retirement they
moved to Abbotsford in August 2017.
Maynard enjoyed working with the cows and calves, growing crops, flower
gardening, but mostly honoring God and being with his family.
Maynard is survived by his wife, Rosanne, of 41 years, his four children: Angela
(Robert “Rick”) Runnion of Sparta, Timothy (Heather) Hansen of Dorchester,
Rebecca (Kyle) Poss of Elgin, MN, and Susanna (significant other, Louis Klemm)
Hansen of St. Lawrence, and his nine grandchildren: Rachel, Joseph, Michael,
Sarah and baby (due in January) Runnion; Kenton, Cienna, and Felicity Poss;
Gabriel and Elijah Hansen. He is further survived by his two younger brothers
Jerome (Kathy) Hansen of Hubertus and Ron Hansen of Milwaukee, and
siblings-in-law: Donald (Paula) Theisen of Kewaskum, Barbara (James) Kruepke of
West Bend, Herbert (Diane) Theisen of Saint Germain, Monica (Steven) Fieweger of
West Bend, and other relatives and friends.
Maynard was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome and Grace Hansen, and his
parents-in-law, Louis and Mildred (Spaeth) Theisen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 16,
2024, at Saint Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester. Family and friends are
welcome from 9:00 a.m. until time of service Monday at the church. Inurnment
will be held at a later date. Live stream will be available for those unable to

Mellenthin, Randall R. “Randy” (2 December 1957 – 11 September 2024)
Randall R. Mellenthin, better known by family and friends as “Randy”, age 66, of
Unity, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.
Randall was born on December 2, 1957, in Marshfield, the son of the late Wilbur
L “Pete” and VirJean “Jean” (Weis) Mellenthin. He was a graduate of Spencer High
School, Class of 1976. After high school he was employed at Rolo Home as an
electrician until the plant closed then went to work at Land O Lakes in Spencer
where he worked at various jobs for 42 years. On June 19, 1982, he was united in
marriage to Melody Kettleborough at St. John’s Lutheran Church in the Town of
Brighton. He was a former member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Spencer.
Randy enjoyed being outdoors, camping, bowhunting for whitetails and bowfishing
for bullheads or carp. He was an expert in small engine mechanics and repair and
able to fix anything electrical. Randy, his dad, and his best friend, Moe spent
many hours working tirelessly gutting and remodeling his home. He was very proud
of their work on his home.
Randy was a quiet man with a gentle heart who loved nature and enjoyed time
outdoors taking in God’s creations. He would do anything for anyone who needed
help.
He is survived by his loving wife, Melody Mellenthin; his son, Lucas (Liz)
Mellenthin of Chicago, Illinois; his daughter, Allison Mellenthin of Unity; his
grandchildren, Gage Segalle-Mellenthin, Hoyt Mellenthin and Parker Mellenthin;
his sisters, Gwen (Wayne Hempel) Thomas of Marshfield, Janine (Bruce) Luepke of
Spencer, Janell (Dennis) Kopp of Loyal and Geana (Kevin) Connelly of Chicago,
Illinois and his brother-in-law, Keith (Lisa) Kettleborough of Spencer. Randy is
further survived by his faithful canine companions, Gunner and Paisley along
with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Randall was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Jean Mellenthin; his
mother-in-law, Corrine Kettleborough; his father-in-law, Frank Kettleborough;
his second father-in-law, Jerry Normington; his brother-in-law, Denny Thomas and
a nephew, Jacob Kopp.

Betty Jane Haufe, age 88 of Abbotsford, passed away on Friday, September 13,
2024, at Abbotsford Health Care Center under the tender care of Hope Hospice.
Betty was born on Oct 30, 1935, the daughter of Ruben and Clara (Scheuneman)
Dettmann in Athens. She was united in married to Roland Haufe in 1954. He
preceded her in death in 1977. Betty worked at The Meadow Farms Restaurant as a
cook for 32 years.
Betty loved her crafts, flowers, and gardening. She loved and cherished her
family, especially her grandchildren.
Betty is survived by five children: Barbara Haufe of Rib Lake, Roger Haufe (Pam)
of Thorp, Jerome (Sue) Haufe of Colby, Dennis Haufe of Unity and Carol (Doug)
Frane of Medford; four grandchildren: Autumn Kuske, Matthew (Julie) Haufe,
Samantha (Cody) Loos and Brandi (Chris) Devlin; nine great-grandchildren: Jenna,
Lilly, Megan, and Jacob Haufe, Maya Loos, Dameon and Destiny Strangfeld, Bailey
and Amelia Devlin. She is further survived by her two sisters: Karen Dettmann of
PA and Janet Birch of Alabama; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roland; her son, Donald
and two brothers: Dennis and Leroy Dettmann.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at
Zion Lutheran Church in Colby. Pastor James Groleau will officiate. Interment
will follow at Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends
will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the church.
