Haberkorn, Beth (30 April 1983)
Beth Haberkorn and Stephen Sternitzky were united in marriage on Saturday
evening, April 30, in services at Christ Presbyterian Church, Edina, Minnesota.
The Rev. Dr. Roger Anderson officiated. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs.
Robert W. Haberkorn of Edina and Mr. and Mrs. Duane Sternitzky, 409 East
Division St., Neillsville.
Serving as maid of honor was Leslie Haberkorn, the bride’s sister of St. Paul.
She was joined by Jill Sternitzky, the groom’s sister of Neillsville; and Vicky
Selden, a friend from San Francisco.
Howard Corey, a friend of the groom from Stewartville, Minnesota, was bestman.
He was joined by a friend Dick Alpert of Milwaukee and the bride’s bother Rob
Haberkorn, Minneapolis. Ushering were the bride’s brother Jim Haberkorn and
friend Bernard Marks, both of Minneapolis.
The bride chose a gown with long train and high lace collar. She wore a veiled
hat and carried a bouquet of light lavender iris, white tulips, freesia and
baby’s breath. Her attendants wore lavender gowns and carried bouquets of iris
with pink spring flowers. The groom and his attendants were attired in black
tuxedos.
Following the wedding, a reception and dance was held at the American
Association of University Woman Hall. The couple then left on a wedding trip to
the north shore of Minnesota.
The new Mr. and Mrs. Sternitzky are presently making their home in Minneapolis
but will be moving to Forest Grove, Oregon, where he will be attending Pacific
University’s School of Optometry. She has a degree in medical technology from
the University of Minnesota and is presently employed as a medical technologist
for Fairview Hospital in Minneapolis. He has a degree in biology from UW-Madison
and is presently employed by Sheraton Park Place in Minneapolis.

Kommer, Norm - Named Abbotsford C/C Pres. (1978)
The directors of the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce named Norm Kommer president
of the organization at the annual meeting held Sunday, Jan. 21, at the Olde
Cedar House.
Kommer, president of the Abbotsford State Bank, will take over the duties of the
outgoing president, Henry Weix, owner of the R&M Furniture Store.
The naming of departmental committee heads within the organization will be
announced shortly by Kommer who states the first order of business will be the
membership drive.
The chamber in 1977 had 64 paid memberships according to Kommer, who state, “I
would like to see an increase in membership, not only among the business men ,
but among individuals who would be interested in taking part in the various
projects undertaken during the year.”
Other officers elected are Dennis Kramer, vice pres., Bob Schelble, Sec., and
James Rehne, treas. Newly elected directors are Paul Rafko, John Pupp and Jack
Nikolay. Re-elected directors are Duane Frey and Norm Kommer.

Ellerman, Mrs. Fred (Lillian) ( ? - ? January 1978)
Word has been received of the death last week of Mrs. Fred (Lillian) Ellerman, a
former Abbotsford resident, who died at Okauchee, where she lived near her
daughter. She was 79 years old. Interment was in Milwaukee.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Leonard (Loretta) Braasch; four
grandchildren and a daughter-in-law. Her husband and a son, Vernon, preceded her
in death.

Erickson, George (7 October 1898 – 26 January 1978)
Services for George Erickson, 79, were held Monday at the Maurina Funeral Home
in Dorchester. The Rev. Clem Dozer officiated, and burial was in Dorchester
Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Erickson, who was a farmer most of his life, died at his home Thursday, Jan.
26, of an apparent heart attack. He was born Oct. 7, 1898, in the Town of
Holton, Marathon County, and farmed on the home farm until 1971 when he retired.
He never married.
He is survived by two brothers, James and Louis, both of Dorchester; five
sisters, Mrs. Katherine Vanderhoof, Medford, and Esther, Mabel, and Lucille
Erickson, all of Milwaukee and Mrs. Caroline Hintz, West Allis. He was preceded
in death by one brother and a sister.
Pallbearers were Roger and Robert Erickson, Eugene Kloth, George Pietrowski,
Richard Feldbrugge and Herbert Gumz.

Foster, James J. #2 (6 August 1921 – 29 January 1978) With Flag
Mr. Foster died Sunday, Jan. 29, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. He was 56
years old. Funeral services for James J. Foster, Colby, will be held this
afternoon at 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The Rev. Francis Rushman will
conduct the services, and burial will be in the church cemetery. The Rux-Lulloff
Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He was born Aug. 6, 1921, at Colby and received his education in the schools
there. He married Anita Daellenbach in Chicago on Sept. 20, 1940. She died March
1968.
Mr. Foster was a farmer from 1945 to 1956 when he became a janitor at St.
Mary’s. In 1960 he worked for the State of Wisconsin Correctional Institute,
Waukesha and a boys’ counselor at Black River Falls before returning to Colby.
On July 11, 1970, in Black River Falls he married Dorthea Nothnagel, who
survives. He is a World War II veteran, serving in the European Theater; a
member of the Holy Name Society and C.O.F. at St. Mary’s.
In addition to his wife he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Judy)
Gierl, Burlington, Mrs. Frank (Sharon) Ehman, Black River Falls, Mrs. Mark
(Marion) Shankey, St. Paul and a son, Loren, Black River Falls; Four stepsons,
Manford Weisgerber, Neillsville, Ernest Kunshier, St. Paul, Bruno Kunshier, Eau
Claire and Loyal Kunshier, Blair, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Grant (Dori8s)
Johnson, Waukesha and Mrs. Robert (Kay) Basin, Douglas, Ariz., 18 grandchildren;
four sisters; and 10 brothers, including Marcellus Foster of Colby. Two brothers
preceded him in death.
Pallbearers were Dick, Dennis and Loren Foster, Ernest and Bruno Kunshier and
Manford Weisgerber.

Jecivicus, Peter A. (24 November 1916 – 28 January 1978) With Flag
Funeral services for Peter A. Jecivicus, 61, rural Colby will be held this
morning, at 10 a.m. at the Rux-Lulloff Funeral Home. The Rev. Keith Schroerlucke
will officiate, and burial will be in the Colby Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Jecivicus the manager of several farms for many years, died at his home on
Saturday, Jan. 28. He was born Nov. 24, 1916, at Chicago. He later worked at a
factory in North Chicago prior to moving to this area. He married the former
Barbara Buchta on March 20, 1946 at Antioch, Ill. The World War Two veteran and
holder of four battle stars lived at his present farm on route two for the past
20 years.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, Peter S. Jecivicus; three
daughters, Mrs. Wm. (Barbara) Gaetelzelman, Antioch, Ill., Jane Jecivicus,
Middleton and Marlene Jecivicus, Colby; two grandchildren; two sisters and three
brothers.

Knecht, Carlton #2 (24 April 1922 – 26 January 1978)
Carlton R. Knecht, former owner of Mary’s Beer Bar at Green Grove died at his
home in Merton, Wis., Thursday, Jan. 26, at age 55. The Rev. Kenneth A. Dix
officiated at the services held Tuesday at the Rux-Lulloff Funeral Home in
Colby. Burial was in the Green Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Knecht was born April 24, 1922, at Winona, Minn. He came to this area if
1924 and attended Oak Grove School. He was married to Ruth Jagodzinski who
preceded him in death on Feb. 4, 1967.
He operated the tavern in Green Grove from 1946 to 1966. In 1966 he moved to
Milwaukee where he worked at Deaconess Hospital as a head maintenance
supervisor. On Feb. 8, he married Joan Lowe, who survives. He was a member of
the First United Church of Christ at Merton.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Carl (Judith)
Haemer, Curtiss, four grandchildren; one brother, Roland Knecht and a sister,
Mrs. Delos (Ardina) Alexander, both of Unity.
