Krasselt, Janice R. (24 July 1933 - 19 September 2024)
Janice R. Krasselt, 91, of Spencer, passed away in the early morning hours of
Thursday, September 19, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Janice was born on July 24, 1933, in Marshfield to Wilmer and Viola (Doughty)
Hopfensperger. She was baptized September 27, 1933, and confirmed on April 14,
1946. She was a graduate of Spencer High School, Class of 1951. On November 10,
1951, she was united in marriage to James W. Krasselt, Sr at St. John’s Lutheran
Church in Spencer. Together, they farmed and raised their five children.
She was hired as the first teacher’s aide in the Marshfield School District and
was instrumental in starting the union for them. She was also a substitute
librarian and did the story hour for children at the Spencer Library. In 1977,
Janice with her son, Jon, started the Plan-It Earth store in Spencer and later
joined by her son, James Jr., expanded to Marshfield. She viewed all her
customers as extended family and enjoyed visiting with them all until her
retirement at the age of 84.
Janice was on the Board for the Spencer Kids Group and was a member of the
Spencer Chamber of Commerce and Trinity Lutheran Church.
Among her titles, she was a wonderful mom, favorite sister, best grandma and
great grandma. She lived humbly, gave generously, laughed freely, loved deeply
and took the greatest pride in her family. She loved talking with people and
always said that everyone has a story to tell. Janice loved the simple things in
life: flowers, birds, listening to music, but most of all the sounds of her
family telling stories and sharing a good laugh. We will forever remember her
when we take our daily vitamins or see a porch swing.
She is lovingly survived by her five children: Jon (Robert) Krasselt, James
Krasselt, Jr., Jodi (Jeff) Hebert, Jay (friend, Steph) Krasselt, all of Spencer
and Jeanne (James) Griesbach of Stratford; her 16 grandchildren: Devin, Derek,

great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her siblings: Muriel Oelrich,
Carol Luepke, Sharon Kurzinski, Diane Mossberger, Lynette Hildebrandt, Jim
Hopfensperger and Dawn Obermann along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives
and friends.

husband, James W. Krasselt, Sr.; siblings, Marvin Hopfensperger, Evelyn
Derrickson, Floyd Hopfensperger, Charles Hopfensperger and Doris Toltzman and

Ule, LaVerne G. (6 October 1940 – 19 September 2024)
“Laughter through tears is my favorite emotion." - Robert Harling
Cherished wife, mom, sister, aunt, and friend, LaVerne G. Ule, quietly passed
away on September 19th, 2024, at the age of 83. She left us with her humor
intact.
LaVerne was born in her grandparent's home in Granton, on October 6, 1940, to
Gordon and Emmoline (Sternitzky) Revling, and lived the majority of her life on
and next door to her parents farm in Auburndale.
On September 6, 1957, she married her only love, Norman Ule in Dubuque, Iowa, as
they were too young to receive a license in Wisconsin. They returned for an
official ceremony the next day at St. John's Lutheran Church in Auburndale.
LaVerne then followed Norman to Biloxi, Mississippi where he was stationed in
the Air Force. They started their family in Florida before returning to
Wisconsin.
LaVerne was a young mother and homemaker who enjoyed fishing, gardening and
always sewing new outfits for her girls. As the kids grew, she and Norman
explored much of the state on snowmobiles. She worked alongside her husband on
building sites, painting and refinishing homes and apartments he worked on. In
their later years, they enjoyed their occasional trips to casinos. LaVerne loved
birdwatching and her backyard were a haven for Orioles, Cardinals, Bluebirds,
Mourning Doves, and Hummingbirds, and, regrettably, because of the cedar siding,
Woodpeckers.
LaVerne was known for her sharp wit and quick humor. Something her children and
grandchildren obviously inherited.
LaVerne leaves behind her beloved husband of 67 years, her three children, Keith
(Peggy) Ule, Kim (Joseph) VanDerLeest, Kandy (Glenn) Watson, four grandchildren,
Jamie (Ryan) Horswell, Luke Peters, Jacob Peters, Amanda (Jordan) Hoffman, six
great-grandchildren, Collin, Aria, Justin, Karma, Brooklyn and Charlie and one
brother Ron, plus many brothers-and-sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and extended
family. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Don, her
daughter-in-law, Peggy, and son-in-law Joseph.
Those wishing to express their joyful memories and laughter are encouraged to
join all those who loved LaVerne at her Celebration of Life on Friday, October
11th at St. John's Lutheran Church Auburndale. Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m.
until the time of the Service 11:00 a.m. to noon. A luncheon will follow.
The family wishes to express our gratitude to the kind caretakers at Three Oaks
Health Services along with our
apologies regarding how often they had to hear about her beloved "babies,"
Gracie and Ruby.
