Anna Schlim, age 97, Colby, died at the Colonial House of Colby. Sunday, April
25, 1976.
Funeral services will be held today at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby at
11:30 a.m. The Rev. Francis Rushman will officiate. Burial will follow at St.
Mary’s Cemetery, Colby.
Lulloff Funeral Home in Colby is in charge of arrangements.

Kadonsky, George (25 Years Service - 1978)
How long do school board members serve their communities? Two are in their
forty-second year of service and forty others have exceeded 25 years on local
boards, according to a recent survey by the Wisconsin Association of School
Boards (WASB).
Dorchester’s George Kadonsky was among forty members joining WASB’s “Quarter
Century Club” at a general session of the 57th Annual Joint State Convention of
school boards, administrators and school business officials in Milwaukee
recently.
Paul A. Hahn, Albany, president of the WASB, read names as Dr. Barbara Thompson,
state superintendent of public instruction, presented each honoree with an
individualized certificate. Thirty-six of the 42 persons were on hand to receive
this award in recognition of years of dedicated service to education.

Kellum, Thomas F.- Navy (Military Service - 1978)
Navy Aviation Machinist’s Mate Airman Thomas F. Kellum, whose wife, Carol, is
the daughter of Wasyl Ducylowycz, Colby has completed an Aviation Machinist’s
Mate Reciprocating Engine Course. He joined the Navy in May 1977.
During the seven-week course at the Naval Air Technical Training Center,
Millington, Tenn. Trainees studied the operation, maintenance and repair of
reciprocating (“piston”) engines, internal lubricating systems and high-and-low
tension ignition systems. Students also received instruction on the principles
of carburetion, aircraft safety and preventative maintenance.

Marine Private First Class Gregory L. Pinter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence E.
Pinter, Route 1, Abbotsford, has reported for duty with the third Marine
Division, in Okinawa.
A 1976 graduate of Abbotsford Senior High School, he joined the Marine Corps in
June 1977.

Kuehnast, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur (Golden - 1978)
On Saturday, Feb. 4, 135 friends joined in the celebration of the 50th wedding
anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Kuehnast of 61 West Southe3rn Avenue, Mesa,
Ariz.
Wilbur Kuehnast and the former Georgia Schoeneman of Wausau were married at St.
Paul on Feb. 4, 1928.
After 40 years with the Wisconsin Power and Light Co., Kuehnast retired in 1967.
His wife was a teacher in the Wausau School system prior to her marriage.
Mr. and Mrs. Kuehnast were active in the Masonic Order and Eastern Star when
they lived in Abbotsford. They spend the summer months at their home on Lake
Mead near Greenwood.
The couple have two children, Harold of Spencer and Mrs. George (Betty) Stimac
of Mesa and one granddaughter, Marcie Kuehnast.

Sandley, Mr. and Mrs. Victor L. (Silver - 1978)
Former Unity residents, Mr. and Mrs. Victor L. Sandley of Spencer celebrated
their 25th wedding anniversary, Saturday, February 18 at Unity Memorial Hall.
Victor L. Sandley and the former Carol Ann Wucherpfennig were married at Zion
Lutheran Church in Colby, February 21, 1953. Their attendants were Mrs. James
(Lucille) Bauer, Marshfield and LaVerne Sandley.
The honored couple have six sons, Victor Kenneth, with the U.S. Navy in the
Philippines; Kim, Marshfield and Dean Bradley, Craig and Jody, all at home and
one daughter, Cheryl, also at home. They have one granddaughter, Melissa, of
Marshfield.
Relatives and friends attending from out-of-town were from Waunakee, Auburndale,
Marshfield, Dorchester. Abbotsford, Colby, Unity, Waupun, Riplinger, Stratford,
Medford, Greenwood, Loyal and Neillsville.

Frane, Janice Kay (4 February 1978)
The Rev. Francis Rushman officiated at the marriage, Saturday, Feb. 4, of Janice
Kay Frane to James Scott Kilty, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kilty of Spencer.
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Frane, Colby, escorted their daughter to the altar of St.
Mary’s Catholic Church as Sister Louise Marie played the wedding music on the
organ at the 5 p.m. ceremony.
For her day the bride chose a white acetate and lace empire style gown with
chapel train. A fingertip veil billowed from her Camelot headpiece, and she
carried a basket of white and red roses.
Attending the bride was Miss Pam Kilty, Spencer, as maid of honor and Miss Julie
Frane, Colby and Mrs. Daniel Schneider, Spencer, her bridesmaids. Carrie Frane
was flower girl and Brian Kilty, the ring bearer. The bridesmaids were attired
in red floor-length velour gowns and each caried a basket of red and white
roses. White hats completed their ensembles.
The bridegroom chose Joseph Frane, Colby as his bestman. Groomsmen were Paul
Kilty and Daniel Schneider, both of Spencer. Gene Frane and David Kilty
performed ushering duties.
A reception and dance were held at The Sword, in Colby, for the couple who will
make their home at Kilty’s Kountry Kourt in Spencer.
The bride is a 1977 graduate of Colby High School. Her husband, an electrician
employed at Wisconsin Homes in Marshfield, is a 19777 graduate of Spencer High
School.

The Rev. Carol Gilbert, grandfather of the groom and the Rev. Keith Schroerlucke
officiated at the wedding of Judy Jean Plantico and Gilbert Lee Calley, Friday,
Feb. 3, at 8 p.m. in United Methodist Church, Colby. Parents of the couple are
Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Lee Calley, Colby and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Plantico, Owen.
Charwin Goessl played the organ as Lewis Nowicki, Eau Claire, the bestman, sang
O Perfect Love and Wedding Prayer.
For her day the bride wore a maribu trimmed hooded coat and gown ensemble with
angel sleeves and coat sweeping to a chapel train. Her bouquet consisted of
white roses and spider mums.
Attending the ride as matron of honor was Shery Zdun, Pittsville and Rose
Uerling, Colby and Carol Wolf, Marshfield, as bridesmaids. They were attired in
matching lime green hooded coat and gown ensembles with maribu trim and carried
white wicker baskets filled with green carnations and white mums.
Lewis Nowicki was bestman and groomsmen were Tim Zdun, Pittsville and Kevin
Mews, Colby.
Following the ceremony a reception and dance was held at The Sword in Colby.
The bride is employed at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield in the medical
records department. Her fiance is employed at All Metal Stamping, Abbotsford.
They will be making their home at Unity.

Clark Co.-University-Wisconsin-Eau Claire (Dean’s List - 1978)
More than 1,700 students were named to the Dean’s List for the fall semester at
UW-Eau Claire (UW-EC), according to Dr. John Morris, UW-EC vice chancellor for
academic affairs.
To be eligible for the honor a student must have received at least a 3.5 grade
point average for 12 credits or more of college credit courses, taken during the
semester. Of those honored 618 were seniors, 367 juniors, 371 sophomores and 385
freshmen.
A host of area students were among those receiving the honor.
From Abbotsford Seniors Thomas Polnaszek and Ronald Schiferl, Junior Jill
Schilling and Freshman David Schiferl were awarded the high academic honor.
Athen area residents so honored were Senior William Bollech and Freshmen Diane
Ewan and Julie Peterson.
Three Colby natives on the Dean’s List were Senior Margo Kaiser, Sophomore
Jodine Krueger and Freshman Julie Olund.
Mary Ann Tauchen, a sophomore from Curtiss, also received the honor.
Sophomores Jennifer Schumacher and Karen Lapp and Nancy Ann Tauchen represented
Dorchester on the honor roll.
There were also three Edgarites on the list. They were David Paul, Shelley
Ringle and Robert Roddy, who are all juniors at the university.
There were also three juniors from Marathon on the list, but they were joined by
one freshman. Juniors on the Dean’s list Lenore Levandoski, Kathleen Michalski
and Ronald Seubert were joined on the list by Nancy Lang.

Tom Nehrlich and Donald Nelson were among College of Agricultural and Life
Sciences students recognized for outstanding academic performance during the
past semester at the UW-Madison.
To gain recognition on the Dean’s list a student must be attending full-time and
maintaining a “B” or better average, with no failure and no incompletes.
Nerlich, the son of Ira (Jim) Nehrlich, Route 1, Dorchester, is majoring in
horticulture. Nelson, the son of Donald Nelson, Route 1, Abbotsford, is majoring
in agricultural engineering.

Clark Co.-UW-Stout (Chancellor’s Award - 1978)
Five students from the area have been named to receive the Chancellor’s Award
for Academic excellence during the first semester at UW-Stout.
They are Sara Koch, a sophomore majoring in fashion merchandising and the
daughter of DR. and Mrs. J. W. Koch, Colby; Mark Runzheimer, a junior majoring
in industrial technology, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Runzheimer, Rout 2,
Colby; Guy Ruplinger, a senior majoring in applied mathematics, and the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Wyman Ruplinger, Route 2 Marathon; Joel Braatz, a senior majoring
in applied mathematics and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Braatz, Route 2
Marathon; and Randal J. Artus, a senior majoring in industrial technology, and
the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Artus, Route 2, Edgar.
The award replaces what has been traditionally known as the Dan’s List and is
presented to students who have a semester grade point average of 3.5 or above.
