Johnson, Tilda H. (29 August 1889 – 23 May 1983)
Tilda H. Johnson, 93, a longtime Christi farmwife, passed away in Neillsville
Memorial Home on Monday afternoon, May 23.
The deceased was born on August 29, 1889, in Morris, Illinois, to Erick and
Julia (Peterson) Johnson. As a young girl, she moved with her parents to the
Stanley are where she received her education. On December 31, 1912, she married
Edward W. Johnson in Stanley ceremonies. The couple then moved to the Christie
area where they farmed in the Town of Weston for many years.
On January 20, 1973, Mr. Johnson died, and Mrs. Johnson took up residence with
her daughter. Then about five years ago, she became a resident of Neillsville
Memorial Home. She was a member of the Christie United Methodist Church and its
Women’s Society and was a charter member of the Weston Homemakers Club.
Surviving her is a daughter, Mrs. Violet Anderegg, Greenwood, three
grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by her husband, by a son Donald, three sisters and two
brothers.
Funeral services were held on May 26, from the Gesche Funeral Home in
Neillsville. The Rev. Norbert Miller officiated. Music at the service was
offered by Lori Anding and Betty Schultz. Burial was made in the Neillsville
City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Kenneth Sherren, Bernard Murphy, Arnold Johnson,
LaRue Potts, John Ormond, Jr., and Donald Opelt.
Attending the services from out of town were Mr./Mrs. Robert Anderegg, Iola;
Lorraine Dorski, Bloomer; Audrey Girard, Chippewa Falls, Mr./Mrs. Larry Weber &
daughter, West Allis; Lorri Weber, Brookfield; Mr./Mrs. Ralph Henning, Mr./Mrs.
Edward Johnson & Lisa and Mr./Mrs. Denny Anderegg & sons, all of Eau Claire;
Mr./Mrs. Harold Baumgarten and David Johnson, of Stanley; and Mr./Mrs. Leonard
Denk, Sharon Schoonover, Susie Anderegg and Nita Jakobi, all of Loyal.
And many friends attended from the Greenwood and surrounding areas.
