Ruth Marie Gabriel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alois M. Gabriel, Colby, has been selected as a finalist in the 1976 Miss Wisconsin National Teenager Pageant to be held on the campus of Concordia College, Milwaukee, June 11 to 13.

The Miss Wisconsin National Teenager Pageant is the official state finals to the Miss National Teenager Pageant to be held in Atlanta, Georgia in August. Betsy Barret of Superior, 1975 Miss Wisconsin National Teenager, will crown the new queen.

Contestants from all over the state will compete for the title. Each contestant accepted will be requested to participate in the Volunteer Community Service Program of the National Teenage Pageant. This program teaches teenagers to share and to participate in school and civic affairs. A mini-modeling charm course will be given during the weekend of the pageant.

The winner of Miss Wisconsin National Teenager Pageant will receive a scholarship, $300 cash scholarship, other prizes, and an all-expense paid trip to Atlanta to compete in the pageant. $10,000 in cash scholarships will be awarded at the National Pageant.

Contestants will be judge on scholastic achievement, leadership, poise-personality and beauty. There is now swimsuit or talent competition.

Each contestant will recite the 100 word “essay” on the subject “What’s Right About America.” Miss Gabriel is being sponsored by Security State Bank of Colby, Colby Chamber of Commerce, and Colby Lions Club.
