Hediger, Lucretia (14 May 1983)
Lucretia Hediger of Notre Dame, Indiana, became the bride of Dr. James M.
Crawford of Sheboygan on May 14 in services held at Lakeland, College,
Sheboygan. The bride and groom proceeded to an island on the campus to exchange
rings and marriage in the Quaker tradition.
A half-hour later they joined witnesses in the chapel where the Rev. David
Lauer, Sheboygan, completed the ceremony. Witnesses were Dr. Joan Griffin,
Waverly, Iowa, and Peter Wentzal, Boston.
The bride is the daughter of Charlotte Hediger of Christie and Herman Hediger,
Jr., Neillsville. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Lakeland College, her
master's degree at Notre Dame and will be receiving her PhD later this year at
Notre Dame. The past several years she has been teaching in the English
Department at Notre Dame.
Dr. Crawford is the son of Sophia Crawford of Euclid, Ohio, and the late Lochman
Crawford. He had received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the
University of Pittsburg. Since earning his PhD in theatre and fine arts from
Indiana University in 1977 he has been a member of the faculty of Lakeland
College.
The couple left on a tour of Tennessee to attend the Scottish High Games and the
gathering of the Crawford Clan.
