SPENCER - Monte J. McNeely, 31, route 2, Spencer, was found dead of a gunshot
wound to his head Wednesday afternoon by his mother in a small cabin in a wooded
area a short distance from his home in the Town of Sherman. She searched for him
after he failed to keep an appointment.
Clark County authorities ruled the death a suicide. He had been despondent and
in ill health.
Services will be Saturday at Calvary Bible Church in Marshfield.The rev. Frank
A."Joe" Everett II of Calvary Bible Church, Marshfield, and the Rev. David
Passet of United Methodist Church, Milwaukee will officiate. Burial will be in
West Spencer Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Rux Funeral Home, Spencer.
He was born October 21, 1952 in Marshfield and received his education in Spencer
Schools. He also attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, Mid-State
Technical Institute-Marshfield and National Bible College in Texas.
He was a cabinet maker for Badger Fixtures Inc., Marshfield, and also did
pottery work.
Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Keith (Fay) McNeely of Spencer, and one
brother, Bryan K. McNeely of Marshfield. He was predeceased by his father
December 27, 1970.
