ABBOTSFORD - Abbotsford basketball coach Glenn Eichstedt has a young and inexperienced team to work with this year with only one letterman on the squad.

The lone returning letterman on the team is junior center Pat Broeske, who started last season.

"Broeske shoots well from the perimeter, but he must improve his defense and rebounding for us to compete." Eichstedt said.

Senior non-letter winners include forward Jim, Dawson, guard Tim Kalepp, forward Rob Rueden, Russ Smart and guard T.J. Stroinski.

Juniors are guard Mike Carter, guard Randy Diers, guard Tim Kramas, guard Mike Malone, Lanny Viegut and center Jeff Wellstandt, who is recovering from a football injury and isn't expected to return to the team before January.

Eichstedt calls Kalepp a capable scorer and leader and a smart player. Rueden has shown signs of gaining strength, confidence and good aggressiveness on the boards.

Dawson is a natural athlete with who needs experience and discipline in order to contribute. Malone is a swingman who has shown consistent perimeter play, good hustle and a good passer.
