Al Gurtner, local author, spoke to a group on March 9 at the Colby Community
Library (CCL). Gurtner explained the writing process of his book, “A Village
Called Unity,” which was published in 2022 after years of collecting photos and
researching Unity history. He entertained the audience with stories of his
interviewing process and gave credit to Kris Leonhardt and Denny Kuehling for
assistance in the publication. He thanked his family for supporting his project
and tolerating his increasing collection of photos and paperwork. The books are
available for purchase at the Colby Community Library, Ray’s Market, and through
Gurtner. Al is shown speaking with attendees Rich and Joyce Hamann of Curtiss
after the presentation.
