Neillsville Police Department (New Officer - 1984)
The Neillsville Police Department will soon be up to its full strength. Police
Chief Tom Woods has announced the appointment of Francis “Butch” Carl to the
department. Carl, who is currently a member of the Greenwood Police Department,
will begin his duties on Monday, January 16.
Carl is replacing Sgt. William Neuser who resigned in November of 1983 to go
into private business. Carl was selected by Woods and the Neillsville Fire and
Police Commission following interview with several candidates. Carl is married
and has one child. His family now lives in Greenwood, but they will be moving to
the Neillsville School District.
Carl’s appointment brings the department back up to its full compliment of five
officers. Woods also announced the promotion of patrolman Byrl Buddenhagen to
sergeant. Buddenhagen is a seven year veteran of the department.
