SPENCER - First -year Spencer basketball coach Steve Christensen likes the
apparent depth his squad is showing, built one of the major concerns is
replacing all-Marawood Conferencier performer Bill Stephens who carried most of
the Rockets' scoring load last season.
The Rockets return five letteren from last year's team, including four players
who started at the end of the 1983 season.
A valuable addition to the 1983-84 team should be senior forward Brad Barnes,
who was a starter at Augusta last season.
Letter winners on the team include seniors Jeff Griepentrog, forward: Perry
Hinrichsen, guard; Randy Reckner, guard-forward; Barnes, Forward; and junior
Mike Ruhbusch, guard.
Reckner is a returning starter and the Rockets must get points from his
position. Griepentrog is a strong rebounder and a returning starter, Hinrichsen
(a returning starter) is a good outside shooter who likes to penetrate, Ruhbusch
is a good defensive player who will run the offensive and Barnes has looked good
down low.
Nin-letter winners on the team are seniors Greg Dallman, center; Mike Endreas,
guard; Greg Oestrich, guard; Jeff Pokallus, guard; Bill Wissell, forward; and
juniors Rick Anderson, forward and Kevin Gamble, guard.
Dallman is one of the tallest players in the conference and is improved from
last year. Gamble is a quick guard and a strong offensive player.
