Coach Linda Fenske is excited about the upcoming basketball season.

The Rockets return six letter winners from last year's team and four of the letter winners are going into their third year of varsity competition.

Senior letter winners on the team are forward-center Sheri Elsinger and forward Joyce Meinders.

Elsinger is a two-year varsity player and she's strong near the basket.

Junior letter winners include guard-forward Stacey Stephens, guard Kim Woodkey, guard Tina Nikolai and center Joan Buse.

"Stephens is our most flexible player, capable of playing inside or outside, and she's a good ball-handler and shooter," Fenske said. "We're looking for a lot of rebounds from Buse. She has good moves inside, but needs to be more powerful."

"Woodkey is an excellent shooter and ball-handler," she added. "Nikolai is a good ball-handler, but need to build confidence in her shooting."

Other players on the team are senior Becky Strey, guard; juniors Deb Lekie, forward; and Bev Kobs, guard.
