Scidmore, Kathleen Ann (Kitty) (3 August 1929 – 21 March 2023)

Kathleen (Kitty) Ann Scidmore, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at the age of 93.

Kathleen was born on August 3, 1929, to Alois and Eleanor Stange in Loyal. At the age of two, she and her family moved to Athens, where her parents farmed. She graduated from Athens High School in 1947 and entered nurses training at St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Wausau. She worked in Wausau until her marriage to Herbert John Scidmore on September 24, 1949.

Kathleen was a stay-at-home mom until her youngest child was in school, at which time she began working part-time in the accounting department at Figis in Marshfield. She later worked at Hub City Foods until she retired in 1990.

Kathleen is survived by five children – Debra Heyerdahl of La Valley: Robert Scidmore (Roxanne) of Foley, AL: Linda Grassl (Mark) of Waunakee: David Scidmore (Jayne) of Stevens Point; and Jill Schulz (Rob) of Spencer. She is also blessed by 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Herbert Scidmore, on June 8, 2006, and her son, James Scidmore on June 3,1979.

Kathleen most enjoyed her family and the fun and laughter they had together at birthday and holiday celebrations and the time they had together at the cottage in Minocqua. She loved to golf, bowl and play bridge with her friends of many years. She was an avid sports fan and closely followed the Brewers, the Bucks, and the Badgers - often amazing her friends and family with team statistics and stories. She was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church in Marshfield where she was active in the Inter-City Circle and served as both a Deacon and an Elder. She was also a long-time member of Chapter AJ of the PEO Sisterhood.

Memorial services for Kathleen will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 200 South Lincoln Avenue, Marshfield, on Monday, March 27, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Dr. Laurie Brubaker Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Monday.
