Profiles:
Friedrich Karl Schulte (aka Carl and Charles)
is the first recorded son ofFranz Arnold Schulte and Wilhemina geb. Stöpgeshof Zinker. He was born on the 13 August 1835 in Tefenthal, Kreis Düsseldorf, Rhineland, Preußen.
His siblings include an unknown female, born in 1831, Friedrich Robert, born on
22 May 1838 and August Wilhelm, born on 28 November 1840. At this time,
Carl’s immigration date is unknown, the ship he sailed on is unknown and his port of embarkation and entry port are unknown. There may be more step-siblings because of Wilhelmina’s previous marriage to Johann Zinker.
His was first married to Louisa Elisabeth geb. Buscher on 01 February 1857,
in the home of her father, Carl Buscher in the Township of Herman, Sheboygan County. Louisa was born on 16 April 1838, city/village unknown, Kreis Düsseldorf, Rhineland, Preußen. To this union, five children were born. Pauline
geb. Schulte Engel (7-12-1857), Robert Schulte (6-26-1859), Amelia geb. Schulte Domer (12-17-1861), Clara geb. Schulte Altenberger (8-24-1864) and
Rosa Lina geb. Schulte Klingbeil (1-28-1868).
Louisa Elisabeth passed away on 14 October 1871 in the Township of Herman,
Sheboygan County, Wisconsin. At this time, it has not been determined what
she died of or her final resting place. Little else is known of the Buscher family
at this time.
It is assumed that Ida geb. Hamann was hired to help the Schulte family with the care of the five children and a sickly Louisa Elisabeth. Three years after the
death of Louisa, Carl and Ida were united in marriage in the Township of Herman. To this union, nine children were born, seven living into adulthood -
Laura Henriette geb. Schulte Lipprandt (2-24-1876), Bertha geb. Schulte
(1877), Stillborn Infant Schulte (1878), Charles Louis Schulte (7-8-1879),
Louise Pauline geb. Schulte Buchholz (11-11-1881), Arthur Wilhelm Hendrich Schulte (aka Art or A.W.) (1-13-1884), Frieda Bertha geb. Schulte
Awe (3-28-1886), Ottilie Johanna geb. Schulte Zumach (aka Delia) (5-4-1887) and Emil Schulte (10-4-1890).
For unknown reasons, Carl sold the Schulte family farm in the Township of
Herman, Sheboygan County and purchased 80 acres in the Township of Colby,
Clark County. Charles Louis would have been the last Schulte born in Sheboygan County and Louise Pauline would have been the first to be born in
Clark County. Robert, his son from the first wife purchased land across the road
from the Carl Schulte farm in the Township of Colby. Word of mouth information is that Carl died in 1892 from a blood infection. He is buried at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in the Township of Colby.

Ida geb. Hamann Schulte was born 23 July 1851 in the Township of Centerville,
Manitowoc County, Wisconsin. She was the oldest daughter of Gottlieb Karl
and Christianna Henriette geb. Huhn Hamann. Ida had five other siblings,
two of which also migrated to Clark County. Ida died on 3 November 1925 and is buried at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Township of Colby.
The exact burial site of Bertha Schulte and Stillborn Infant Schulte is not known at this time. Common practice at the time was to bury relatives on the family
farm.
