Edwin Buker's Planing Mill
Greenwood, Clark Co., Wisconsin
The above ad appeared in the Greenwood Gleaner, February 2, 1900.
This Planing Mill did a variety of mill working and was owned by
Edwin Buker who later served as Greenwood's Mayor (1914 - 1918 and again from 1928-1940). "Ed" was
born May 14, 1869 in Sheboygan County and moved to Greenwood at the age of 4
years with his parents, the late
Mr.
and Mrs. Fred Buker. He also engaged in logging and lumber business.
June 14th, 1894 he was married to Anna Wehrman who died May 22, 1912.
Mr. Buker was an alderman for a number of years. Edwin Buker belonged
to the prestigious
Greenwood Commercial Club and was present for the
Banquet held in honor of the unveiling of the
Peace Monument given to the city by Ernest Durig in 1937. The Buker family
belonged to the Zion
Evangelical and Reformed Church and are buried in the cemetery grounds
next to it.
